GV Evolution

The Government of Telangana (GoTS) created Genome Valley in the year 1999 to attract R&D Companies and synergize the advantage of existing life science companies in Hyderabad. GoTS along with TSIIC (Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd.) identified the vast land parcels in Shameerpet where the Genome Valley cluster could be developed.

GoTS also developed support infrastructure such as roads, dedicated power and water supply, to attract companies to set up their facilities in the cluster.

Thereafter, specialized parks, namely ICICI Knowledge Park (now IKP Knowledge Park) and Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park (Formely Alexandria Knowledge Park SEZ, now MN Park) were developed in the years 2000 and 2001 respectively, with support from the GoTS.

Laurus, Vimta Labs and DuPont started developing their own dedicated R&D campuses in the cluster in subsequent years. As of today, many global companies including Novartis, GSK and Nektar have set up their facilities here and are entirely operational in GV.
