SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The city of Hyderabad has gained tremendous impetus since the upgrade of social infrastructure, nearly a decade ago. Some of the key highlights are:

  • The 159 km long ‘outer ring road’ (ORR), an orbital linkage connecting the existing arterial roads and various nodes of the city.
  • The 11.5 km long ‘P V Narasimha Rao Elevated Expressway’ in Hyderabad is considered as Asia’s longest elevated expressway. It connects the heart of the city to the Hyderabad International Airport.
  • The 43 km long ‘Multi Modal Transport System’ (MMTS), a dedicated city rail service, connects different parts of Hyderabad, commuting over 70,000 people daily.
  • A 66 km long ‘Hyderabad Metro project’ is being initiated. The metro rail would be connected with the roads and the MMTS networks, thus creating an integrated transport hub.
  • The ‘Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board’ (HMWSSB) designed the INR 1000 crore Krishna River project to supply 90 million gallons of water every day to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
